Fine Arts Magnet Department
The Fine Arts Program at Burrus Elementary provides instruction focusing on band, dance, art, and gymnastics. We strive to enrich the lives of our students through an understanding and enjoyment of the arts. The students at Burrus participate in performances, field trips, contest, festivals, and many other activities as a requirement of the magnet program at Burrus Elementary.
Students from grades Pre-kinder through fifth grade participate in forty-five daily minutes of instruction in these fine arts programs.
The Band Program fosters and maintains unique and credible musical experience. Our Band is composed of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
The students in the program experience individual, sectional, and ensemble rehearsal. Our band program teaches students how to develop leadership, cooperation, responsibility, and self-discipline.
Our philosophy is to encourage confidence, self-esteem, and self-discipline in our dance students. Students are instructed
classical ballet, jazz and many other genres. Our dance discipline is designed to give each student the tools necessary to become successful performing artists. The dance team performs and competes yearly throughout the City of Houston.
